When installing WinFR File Renamer or WinFR Folders the installer messages that the SmartSound Quicktracks Plugin.msi could not be found. How can this be fixed?

This message is not caused by WinFR, because our programs do not use this plug-in. It is rather caused by a failed installation of the Quicktrack plug-in or another application that is using Quicktracks. A solution can be found directly at the SmartSound homepage at http://www.smartsound.com/support/answers/link.php?id=309. Just install the update of SmartSound Quicktracks like described there, and everything should work afterwards.

I would like to rename files that don't have a file extion but a dot in the file name. How can I do that?

On Windows a file normally consists of a file name and a file extension, which a separated by a dot. Now it can happen that you want to rename files with WinFR, which don't have a file extension but a dot within the file name (e.g. files of other operating systems or of some application programs). In this case WinFR also takes all characters behind the last dot as file extension that will not be included in most of the renaming actions. However, for this behavior there is a simple solution: Just create a new temporary file extension. To do so, please execute the following steps:

  1. Before all other renaming actions create a new file extension, e.g. "xyz". Therefor use the menu item File extension or the belonging button in the toolbar. It is important for this step that the checkbox for adding the old file extension to the file name is marked.
  2. Perform the desired renaming actions.
  3. Remove afterwards the temporary file extension in the file extensions dialog.
If the files anyway should get a new file extension, you can enter it already correctly in step 1. In this case step 3 must not be performed.

I would like to rename folders that don't have a folder extion but a dot in the folder name. How can I do that?

Similar to the question before, here the same steps are necessary. That means, you have to adapt the folder extensions, perform the desired renaming actions, and remove the temporary folder extensions afterwards.

Why do I get no confirmation mail after finishing the program registration?

After sending the registration form you will receive an automatically generated confirmation mail. This mail includes all relevant information regarding your order, the payment etc. As a rule it should be available in your inbox after a few seconds but after some minutes at the latest. If this is not the case, this is often caused by an "overeager" spam filter or something similar (especially users of AOL informed us about such problems). Therefore please have a look to your spam folder firstly, if you can find the mail there. Depending on the used mail provider and/or mail program the spam folder has a name like "Spam", "Spam suspicion", "Unknown", "Bulk" etc.

How long will it take until I get the full version of the program?

This depends on the chosen method of payment. The full version will be sent by mail as soon as possible after receiving the payment. At the best this will be only a few minutes after ordering the full version (preconditioned using a payment with promptly payment receipt like PayPal or Share*it). When using the payment by bank transfer it will normally take only some days until payment receipt, too. If you need the the full version earlier, but want to this method of payment, just send us a mail with the transfer confirmation of your bank.
Generally we try to process all registrations as soon as possible after receiving the payment. Our goal here is a value of within 24 hours on weekdays (but unfortunately we cannot guarantee this value). Exceptions like vacation times etc. will be posted on our Order page. So if you against your expactations have to wait a little bit longer for the full version, a short look to this page can be worthwhile.

I bought the registered full version of the program. Nevertheless the program prompts as Shareware version. What's going wrong?

Together with the link to the current full version you will receive your personal license key by mail - the file "lizenz.WinFR" at WinFR File renamer or "lizenz.WinFRF" at WinFR Folders. This file must be located in the program directory to make it possible working with the full version. So if WinFR File Renamer or WinFR Folders still prompts as Shareware, first take a look to their program directories (in most cases "C:\Program Files\WinFR" respectively "C:\Program Files\WinFR Folders"). If there doesn't exist a file "lizenz.WinFR" / "lizenz.WinFRF", then copy it from the attachment of the mail into this directory (see also the next question).

I received the license key of the full version. How do I get it now into the WinFR / WinFR Folders directory?

As described in the answer of the last question you will get your personal license key as attachment of the registration mail. Depending on your mail program or the different kinds of web interfaces, there are different possibilities copying this file into WinFR's / WinFR Folders' program directory.
The easiest way is clicking the file with the left mouse button. Normally then a dialog appears, asking you if you want to open or save the file. Here you should choose "Save". In the case you will be prompted for a folder for saving the file, then just choose the WinFR / WinFR Folders program directory (see above). If the question for a folder doesn't appear, then the file will be saved in your default download folder (e.g. the desktop). This mainly applies to users of browsers like Firefox etc. In this case you have to copy the file afterwards manually into the right folder.
Another possibility to copy the file is clicking the attachment with the right mouse button and selecting "Save as...". Here a dialogue will appear, asking for a folder for saving the file. Here you have to select the WinFR / WinFR Folders program directory (see above). Please ensure that in the text field for the file name the essential entry "lizenz.WinFR" (WinFR File Renamer) or "lizenz.WinFRF" (WinFR Folders) is given.
